Basement Waterproofing

What is Basement Waterproofing

Basement waterproofing involves installing drain tile, which is a perforated pipe (sometimes called a "French drain"), around the perimeter of your basement to capture ground water and direct it to a revisor to be pumped out and away from your home. It's a relatively simple process, but extremely labor intensive.

When Does a Homeowner Need an Interior Drainage System?

  • Persistent Moisture Issues: If water continues to permeate your basement despite seemingly adequate outdoor drainage, an interior French drain can be a game-changer. It effectively tackles moisture problems caused by heavy rain or groundwater seepage.

  • Basement Flooding: Homeowners experiencing frequent basement flooding due to heavy rainfall or poor drainage should seriously consider an interior French drain. It helps redirect water away from the foundation and prevents damage.

  • Hydrostatic Pressure: Interior French drains effectively reduce hydrostatic pressure on foundation walls and basement floors. By channeling water away, they prevent structural damage and potential cracks.

  • Soggy Soil Near Foundation: If you notice soggy or muddy soil near your foundation, it’s a sign that excess water is accumulating. An interior French drain can redirect this water, keeping your basement dry.

  • Basement Humidity and Mold: High humidity levels and mold growth in the basement are indicators of moisture problems. Installing an interior French drain can help maintain a healthier indoor environment.

How We Install Interior French Drain

The Process

We break out floor along the exterior walls of your foundation and trench along the footer to create a space for the drain tile to be installed.

We'll also install a sump basin that will collect the ground water along with a sump pump. We'll add PVC plumbing to discharge the water up and out of your home.

The trench along your floor will then be filled with stone to allow for water to reach the drain tile.

Finally, the whole trench will be sealed with concrete.
